It is important to note that soliciting testimonials from current and previous clients is strictly unethical across the mental health field as it can compromise clients' confidentiality and relationship with their therapist.

​

The APA, AAMFT, ACA, and NASW all prohibit solicitation of testimonials:

​

Psychologists do not solicit testimonials from current therapy clients/patients or other persons who because of their particular circumstances are vulnerable to undue influence.

APA Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct, 2017, 5.05

(3.4) Marriage and family therapists do not provide services that create a conflict of interest that may impair work performance or clinical judgment .

(3.8) Marriage and family therapists do not engage in the exploitation of clients, students, trainees, supervisees, employees, colleagues, or research subjects.
